After searching for a replacement 1971 Westy for awhile, we came across a 1965 EZ Camper here in Florida. I stopped by on a Thursday to look it over and even took it for a test drive. I have never looked for split window buses before, so it was something a little new. It drove well, but I wasn’t ready to make a purchase since WinterJam was coming up in a few days and I wanted to see if there was a Westy there. Well, there wasn’t, and the 65 EZ Camper ended up being there, so we bought it. I had planned on using my new tow bar to bring it home, but you have to remove the steering dampner and I didn’t have my socket set, so we drove it. 3 hours and 157 miles later we were home. I was very impressed!
She’s a little bruised up, and has a horrible paint (or coating?) job, but we are hoping she’ll clean up nice. There’s a lot of new things I am having to learn about spiltties, but we are so excited. The kids had a blast riding home in it.
